How combat level works

This OSRS combat calculator combines a defensive base with only the strongest offensive style. Defence, Hitpoints and half of Prayer form the base. Attack plus Strength form melee; Ranged and Magic each use one and a half times their level before flooring. The largest offensive contribution is added to the base, and the total is floored. Open the dedicated combat level calculator when you need a focused URL for this tool.

combat=14(D+HP+P2)+max(0.325(A+S), 0.3251.5R, 0.3251.5M)\text{combat} = \left\lfloor \tfrac{1}{4} \left( D + \text{HP} + \left\lfloor \tfrac{P}{2} \right\rfloor \right) + \max\left( 0.325(A + S),\ 0.325 \lfloor 1.5R \rfloor,\ 0.325 \lfloor 1.5M \rfloor \right) \right\rfloor
All seven inputs are levels from 1–99, except Hitpoints starts at 10 for a standard new account.

Worked example

A standard fresh account with level 1 in Attack, Strength, Defence, Prayer, Ranged and Magic and level 10 Hitpoints calculates to combat level 3. A maxed account with 99 in every listed stat calculates to 126. The next-level table raises one stat at a time, so it does not imply that every listed route is equally fast to train.

Use the result to compare builds, not to infer damage. Combat level does not include equipment, Slayer, special attacks or target defence. Open the DPS and max-hit ledgers when gear and hit rolls are the actual question.

Released skill calculators

The current release batch exposes eight data-backed skill ledgers. Later skill pages remain built and are linked only after the preceding batch earns search impressions.

Planning, not guesswork

Exact thresholds

The level curve is generated from the cumulative experience formula through level 99 and accepts virtual XP through 200 million.

Visible formulas

Combat rolls, maximum hit, DPS and binomial drop odds show the arithmetic used instead of hiding it behind a score.

Portable plans

Calculator input is stored in the query string. Copy the URL to reopen or share the same scenario.

Common questions

How is combat level calculated?
A base from Defence, Hitpoints and half Prayer is added to the largest of the melee, ranged or magic offensive components, then floored.
Can I load a player from hiscores?
Yes. Combat and skill tools can load public levels. Every field also works manually when the public service is unavailable.
Are item prices live?
No. XP Calcs focuses on transparent mechanics. Enter current prices on economic tools and treat skill-table costs as dated planning snapshots.
