How it works

Mahogany Homes pays reward points for completed contracts, so the planning question is a ceiling division rather than an experience curve. This page converts a point gap into whole contracts and then into minutes at your own measured pace; it does not price planks.

Contract tiers and what changes between them

Contracts come from the foremen in Ardougne, Falador, Hosidius and Varrock, and each sends you to one house to repair or build several pieces of furniture. The tier sets the Construction level required, the plank consumed, and the points paid.

Novice20Oak plank3247
Adept50Teak plank4185
Expert70Mahogany plank5148

Some repairs consume steel bars instead of planks and a contract can mix build and repair steps, so plank demand is a range rather than a constant. The tool therefore asks for effective points and leaves materials to the Construction skill calculator.

Interpretation thresholds

Three numbers make the output actionable. The ceiling: partial contracts pay nothing, so 184.9 and 185 contracts cost the same. The tier crossover: moving from four to five points removes exactly one fifth of the remaining contracts, so switching pays whenever an Expert contract takes less than 25% longer than an Adept one — a stopwatch question, not a wiki question. The pace floor: at five minutes per contract an hour yields twelve, so a 148-contract plan is about twelve and a half hours.

contracts=target pointscurrent pointspoints per contract\text{contracts} = \left\lceil \frac{\text{target points} - \text{current points}}{\text{points per contract}} \right\rceil
Inputs are kept at full precision. Discrete counts round up when a partial action cannot complete the goal; probabilities and rates keep their fractional meaning.

Worked example

Moving from 100 to 500 reward points at four points per contract requires 100 contracts, and at five minutes each the plan is about 500 minutes. Second worked example: a builder holding 260 points who wants 1,000 has a 740-point gap — ⌈740 ÷ 4⌉ = 185 Adept contracts, or 148 Expert contracts at five points. At 5.5 minutes either way that is 814 minutes against 1,018, so the tier change is worth about three and a half hours.

Interpreting the result

Start by checking that each field describes the same scenario as the result: levels are visible base levels, bonuses are entered separately, costs are per unit, and a one-in-X rate means one divided by X on each eligible roll. The calculator updates immediately and writes the complete input state into the address bar. “Copy link” preserves those assumptions; “Copy result” copies a short summary rather than the entire method.

Do not treat a rounded count as an hourly rate. A required-action total says how many successful units complete the target under the entered reward. Banking, movement, failed attempts, animation timing, missed ticks and setup changes affect elapsed time. When time matters, measure a representative session with the same method and divide the required count by the observed successful actions per hour.

Economic outputs are arithmetic scenarios rather than live market quotations. Check current item values before buying supplies, include any outputs that can be sold, and consider limits or low-volume price movement. Probability outputs describe repeated independent trials; they do not promise that a result arrives at the displayed attempt count. The visible formula is the authority for what this page includes.

Read this as a planning estimate. Game updates, equipment effects, failures, travel, downtime and live prices can move a real session away from the mathematical result. Check the inputs against the account and use the output as a reproducible baseline.

Questions about OSRS Mahogany Homes Calculator

Does contract tier change points?
Points and bonuses can vary; enter the effective average for the tier and bonuses you use.
Are planks calculated?
No. This page targets contract count and time because furniture assignments vary.
Can I enter fractional average points?
Yes. The numeric field accepts decimals and the final contract count rounds up.
How many points does each Mahogany Homes contract tier give?
Beginner, Novice, Adept and Expert pay 2, 3, 4 and 5 points, gated at Construction 1, 20, 50 and 70. Enter the effective figure you observe.
Where do I pick up contracts?
Foremen are stationed in Ardougne, Falador, Hosidius and Varrock. The city changes travel time, which belongs in the minutes-per-contract field.
Does the calculator work out how many planks I need?
No. Contracts mix repairs and builds and some steps use steel bars, so plank demand varies. Plan materials from the Construction skill calculator.
